The Problem

Our customer had a leak in their sink that unfortunately ruined the cabinet box and even caused some damage to the doors.

After discussing options with the homeowner to resolve the problem, we found that they weren’t happy with the color either. With only one cabinet needing to be replaced, and the rest of the cases in good condition, this was a perfect opportunity for a reface.

Project Scope

After doing some color matching, the customer settled on a custom stain over cherry wood doors. Our team at Plowman Cabinetry took measurements for all doors and exposed faces of the kitchen and got to work in our shop constructing all new doors and a new cabinet box for under the sink.

Cabinet refacing is a service that we offer at Plowman Cabinetry that is often overlooked. It's a great way to minimize downtime in your kitchen renovation project if you’re looking to freshen up the look.

For a typical cabinet refacing project, minimal power tools are needed on-site, cabinet doors, and veneer are all prepared in our shop, and we typically complete the work in 3-4 days.

For a refacing project, we typically look for the following criteria: The homeowner is happy with their current layout, and cabinet boxes and frames are in good condition.

What Made This Reface Project Unique?

The custom stain color that we blended for this project over Cherry gave the kitchen a much warmer and hand-finished look.

How Long Did the Project Take to Complete?

For a typical refacing project, our lead time is usually about 6-8 weeks from start to finish after our customers have selected all colors and designs. The typical reface project requires about 80 - 120 man-hours, depending on the size of the kitchen and the complexity of the project.

We aim to limit our time on-site at the home to 3-4 days, accomplishing this by completing much of the prep work ahead of time in our shop.

Could Your Kitchen Cabinets Use a Refresh?

A refacing project can change the look of your kitchen significantly, subtly, and functionally, depending on what you’re trying to achieve.

The color change in this refacing project warmed up the kitchen, but maintaining the door style still kept that modern look of a city loft apartment. Refacing has the ability to transform your kitchen with reduced intrusion normally found with a kitchen renovation.

We proudly serve areas on the Main Line, Delaware County, Chester County, and Montgomery County.
